Sleighing It - Holiday Makeup Series - Mrs. Jack Frost

Welcome to the second installment of...
My first installment was inspired by sweet and spicy gingerbread and I LOVED how both looks turned out (check it out HERE). The wearable version will be my personal go-to look this year for Christmas Day.

This second holiday inspired look is much colder than the last....
This one will surely send a shiver down your spine and all the way to your toes.

Let me introduce you to....Mrs. Jack Frost.
A.K.A. The queen of all things frozen and frosty.
Check out those frozen lips (okay... they’re really just rhinestones).
I guess that’s what happens when you’re married to the ice king himself.
Mrs. Jack Frost rocks chilly rhinestone lips AND an icy blue Mohawk (courtesy of my favorite Loreal Colorista 1 Day Hair Spray in Blue).
Warm tones are definitely not in her beauty color palette. This look is everything cool toned and glacial.
Her looks might be a little cold... but she has a great personality! Ha!
Just check out those icy silver and blue smoked out eyes. The NYX Foil Play palette in Let’s Groove added the perfect sparkle and metallic touch to the eyes.
These foil cream shadows  are so easy to work with and so pigmented. I used the silver and dark blue shades for this look. Just dab a little on top of your eye makeup for a nice shiny and muted glitter touch.
For those icy statement lips, I used my favorite Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the shade Chianti and then outlined them in an electric blue gel eye liner pencil for a blue pop. I placed each of those blue self adhesive rhinestones on individually to create that frozen lip look and believe it or not... they were really stuck on there! I could talk and move my lips without them falling off. Definitely NOT practical, but it was a fun festive touch.

I decided to strip this crazy look way down and make the wearable version clean and classy (and totally easy to recreate).
As you can see, there is very minimal makeup (or skill) involved with this look.
It’s all about glowing skin and that dark plum lip.
If you are a makeup newbie or prefer understated looks, this one is for you this holiday season.
I only used two eye shadow shades from the Luminess Nude & Naughty Palette for this look and ZERO eyeliner! Mascara only! How’s that for easy?
I used shade 1 (Bare) all over my lid and up to the brow bone to create a nice neutral and even canvas.
Then I used shade 2 (Toffee) in the crease to add a little depth but without taking away from the minimal look.
For the final eye step I added my favorite Loreal Lash Paradise Mascara.
Done!
(Just remember to blend blend blend so you don’t have any harsh lines. We just want a little definition in the crease, but not a lot of color).
For the face I wanted to continue the minimal theme but I didn’t want to look like a colorless blank sheet of paper. I liberally used bronzer on my cheeks, forehead, nose, and under my jawline. Bronzer can help liven up your face and also give it some warmth and shape. We are going for a minimal look, but that doesn’t mean using zero makeup. I used my Tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette for this look.
I also used just a little pop of blush on the apples of my cheeks and used a champagne colored highlighter on my cheekbones, nose, and chin to add a little winter glow and dimension.
Now for the real star of this minimal makeup show... the LIPS!
If red isn’t your color, this plum lip just might do the trick. (I used the same Stila liquid Lipstick in the shade Chianti that I used as the base for my icy lips above).
I love that the plum really pops against the minimal eye look. This look is an unexpected makeup pairing since red is more traditional but it is just as classy and perfect for those holiday parties.
I also added just a dab of my champagne highlighter to the center of my lips to add a little festive touch.
For the hair I decided to keep things clean and classic and go with a pulled back bun. I liked that my hair was out of my face and let the makeup look shine. I also added some statement earrings to up the glam vibe.
What do you think of this minimal holiday look? Super easy and still festive, right? Perfect for an after work party when you’re short on time or if you just want to keep things simple.
