Easy Halloween Makeup - Festival Chick

Loud music...Hot desert sun...thousands of people...glitter galore....crazy fashion...
If this isn't your scene then you might not know what today's look is about.

Meet Festival Chick.
Coachella, Lollapalooza, and more have made the summer music festival scene much more interesting (and fashionable) lately. Personally, I am not a huge crowd type of girl so I prefer to jam to my favorite bands through Apple Music. Lame I know...But much less sweaty.
Even though I have zero plans of music fest hopping in the near future, there is one thing I have been DYING to try (from the comfort of my own home)...The festival makeup look!
Just LOOK at those face jewels!!
This glitter girl was in heaven!
If you don't know what the "festival look" entails, let me enlighten you.
Glitter, colored hair, crop tops, face jewels, fanny packs, neon everything, denim and more denim, double hair buns, Tie-dye, choker necklaces, and even more glitter.
Basically if a unicorn and a rainbow had a baby.....A multi-colored, bejeweled, glittery little baby...that's the look.
Honestly the "fashion" at the festivals doesn't always seem so fashionable to me...But what do I know? I'm just here for the makeup! So let's get to it!
1) Face jewels.
A total MUST if you want to recreate this look. The face jewels were pretty much the ONLY reason I wanted to try this look for Halloween because (HELLO)...I love sparkly things. Why would I not want to have shiny, beautiful jewels on my face?
Unless you have extra rhinestones or shiny stickers laying around, you will have to order these. But, the good news is they're under $10 and you get 6 different sets (HERE)! If you and some friends want to go as a festival crew, you have plenty to share and an easy costume! But seriously, you could also use some kind of sparkly stickers or individual jewels with an adhesive back. The face jewels I am wearing were on a larger adhesive backing so you don't have to place each tiny jewel individually (PRAISE)! They were all on one piece for each jewel cluster. So easy!
They are SO beautiful in person and totally make this look. You don't even have to do makeup if you don't want to. These jewels speak for themselves.

My one piece of advice for these is that you apply the larger forehead ones BEFORE you have applied moisturizer or foundation. Since they are bigger, they are heavier and the adhesive will lose it's "stickiness" if it is over your makeup. The smaller ones seemed to do fine on top of my foundation and powder products, so just be aware.

 2) Glitter.
The glitter and the face jewels go hand in hand for this look because most festival goers are slathered (literally) from head to toe in chunky glitter. Don't believe me? Just google "festival makeup looks".
They put it in their hair...on their arms...legs...and of course, their faces. I didn't feel like picking glitter out of my hair for three months, so I just stuck to the face area for my glitter goals.
I used the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye shadow in Smouldering Satin (HERE) on my eyes and it packed the perfect sparkle punch I wanted. So easy to apply and it dries down quickly, perfect for this look. I also used the Stila Stay All Day Glitterati Lip Top Coat in Entice (HERE) to give my lips a touch of that glitter glow as well.
***FYI...Do NOT use craft glitter on your eyes. Craft glitter is not made for skin contact, especially in the sensitive eye area. It can actually cut your eye if it gets in there. That's why you MUST only use glitter products specifically made for makeup or the facial area just to be safe. Glitter makeup items use glitter that is rounded out so it can't hurt your eyes or skin.
There are some AWESOME body glitter balms out there if you want to go FULL festival gal. They are chunky and gorgeous and packed with the most unicorn inducing glow I've ever seen. I will link some good ones below if that floats your glitter girl boat.
Side note: I do have many friends who are "glitter-phobic". They swear glitter is of the devil and will be in the pits of hell tormenting souls for eternity.

I for one believe it will be gracing the wings of the angels in heaven... dusting us with it's beautiful glow with every beat of their majestic wings. (Okay maybe not...but you get how I feel about it).
If you want to have a little devious Halloween fun, slather yourself in glitter and then go HUG your glitter hating friends. I know they'll love it. HA!
3) Hair.
This past festival season the hair looks were full of braids, curls, messy buns and crazy colors. The "double bun" look was everywhere as well and that's why I decided to try it. It also looked so darn cute with the pink hairspray!
If hair isn't your forte, don't worry...messy is key! Remember these festivals are usually somewhere HOT and sweaty and sometimes people don't leave. They actually stay for the whole 3-4 days of the festival. (Ew). So throw your hair up and spray on a fun color!
I used the Loreal Colorista One Day Spray in Rose Gold (HERE). This spray was awesome and gave the perfect hint of pink I was going for without staining my hair for a week. And let's be honest I was dying to try out rose gold hair without actually having rose gold hair. It was perfect! It also wasn't crunchy or stiff either, so that was a plus! It washed right out with no staining or residue. So easy! They have SO many colors and you can find them at Ulta, Target, and other drug stores in the hair care aisle.
Another FYI...Just make sure you don't spray it near a wall or on white bathroom surfaces, because it might stain those.

Overall, you can do any type of makeup look you want. You can go minimal and let the jewels do the talking, or you can go FULL glitter glam like I did. I decided to punch up my liner and lashes since I had those jewels surrounding my eyes. I used the Ardell Magnetic Lash Accents in 001 to give extra volume to my lashes. And FYI, I am NOT a false lash person because I can never get them to look right on me. The glue gets everywhere and ruins my eye makeup or I glue my eyelids shut. Not a good look. These magnetic ones were super fun and so much easier! No glue, no mess and reusable! Plus, they're accents so they are about half the length of normal strip lashes and that gives just the right amount of volume on the outer edge. You simply place the top strip above your natural lashes and then put the bottom strip underneath your natural lashes and the magnets click together and you're DONE! I thought they were a fun touch to this look. Grab them HERE.

For your festival costume...well....anything goes really. I saw lots of vests, lace, kimonos, bathing suit tops, crop tops, track suits, tie dye, sports wear, denim jackets....pretty much anything. Just go in your closet and pick out an outfit with your eyes closed. That's what it looks like to me.
Choker necklaces, metallic tattoos, and fanny packs were also in ample supply for the accessory department. I can't believe I just said fanny packs!!!!
Maybe you can raid your grandma's closet for those 80's style Reebok's and find a fanny pack as well!? Just have fun with it!
