Easy Halloween Makeup - 1920's Flapper

Hey guys!
Are you ready for my second easy Halloween makeup idea? Because I AM!

The 1920's Flapper
This one was SO much fun to do.
I don't know what it is about the 1920's, but they have always intrigued me. Maybe it's because women's makeup and fashion REALLY took an edgy, modern turn? Women in the 20's pushed the envelope on what society deemed acceptable and appropriate for women. Self expression and dare I say...FUN... in makeup and clothing shot to the forefront and I love it! All of it!
The iconic 20's flapper was a term used for young women who cut their hair short in the classic "bob" style, wore costume jewelry and hair accessories, shortened their skirt hemlines, danced the night away to jazz music, and just plain did their own thing. Their makeup and hairstyles reflected the push back against society norms. Dark, heart shaped lips, thinly drawn on brows, smoky smudged eyes, and fake beauty marks were the staple of 20's Flapper makeup.
These game changers wanted everyone to know they were stylish, smart, and most importantly - FREE.
Free to make their own fashion and makeup choices, and it shows in their flashy hair accessories and shockingly dark lipstick.

As I stated before, the MUST haves for recreating this look are the dark, heart shaped lips, thinly drawn brows, smudged eye makeup, and the fake beauty mark.
If makeup isn't really your forte, you're in LUCK!
No sharp winged eyeliner is needed for this look - just used your fingers and smudge away. Of course you can use eye shadow brushes if you have them, but don't sweat it if you don't. Deep purple, grey, black, brown, and navy blue shadows will all work for this look. Just use what you have and make sure your eyes are so smoky that you just might start a fire.
Since I have full natural brows,  I tried to accentuate the arch with liquid black eyeliner to give the illusion of a thinner arched brow. Obviously it's hard to change your eyebrows, so just focus on the eyes and lips for this look and you will NAIL it.
In order to create more heart shaped lips, I applied foundation all over my lips to cover up my natural lip line and lip color. That way you can draw on any size or shape that you want. Accentuate that top cupid's bow and think small and heart shaped. If you don't want to try painting on a new set of lips, just use a dark lipstick on your natural pout.
For blush, focus a bright POP of pink on the apples of your cheeks. They didn't have the many makeup blending options that we do now, so just pop that blush on in two circles and that's all you need.
The final makeup step is the beauty mark. Take some black liquid eyeliner (pencil is fine too) and "dot" on a beauty mark wherever you want.
20's Flapper makeup...CHECK!
Here is a super up close and personal picture of the makeup.

Now for the hair....this is SUPER simple.
If you don't already have an adorable bob cut, choose a fun elastic headband and place it around your head with the embellished band crossing over the middle of your forehead. Then, simply wrap your hair up around the plain elastic part of the headband to create the faux bob. Use extra bobby pins to secure your hair if necessary. I did a similar hair tutorial for this style (HERE) if you are a visual learner and would like pictures to see how to do it.

Style your 20's look with long, layered beaded jewelry, gloves, feathers, or even a boa! The possibilities are pretty endless. A Black or dark colored dress or shirt is also an easy go-to for this costume.

And that's IT! You're done! How easy is this look?
It's so easy and adorable it made me want to do the Lindy Hop! (That's a 20's dance style craze if you don't know). I'm kind of fond of it because that's my name! Who else can say they have their own dance style? I don't know about you, but I don't know many people named Jitterbug, Tango, or Foxtrot. Just sayin....
